good morning, star shine

funny story- a year ago today I was being detained in Heathrow airport. not exactly the best day of my life. probably one of the worst, actually. but that wasn't even the most significant thing that happened to me that week!

March 26, 2011. a crazy morning to start a crazy day and a crazy week.

I can't begin to describe how I felt waking up in the hotel with my family. I was so nervous I thought I was going to puke, haha. I feel like the whole morning was a blur, which is kind of unfortunate because I wanted to enjoy every single moment of it with my girl friends and family.

thankfully I had amazing photographers to capture a few moments to remind me just how lucky I am to have such fantastic people in my life!

here are some photos of Brando and I getting ready for our big day.

*all photos by Adam & Andrew via W. Scott Chester Photography. check out their website, these guys are incredible!

the night before the wedding my family and I stayed at the Winterholme heritage inn, which is also where all the girls got ready. the boys made a stopover cause me and Brando wanted to do the whole meet-up-before-the-church thing (I assumed that would help calm my inevitable nerves), but people convinced us at the last minute to go the more traditional route. but I digress... the Winterholme is absolutely beautiful and I can't think of a better place to start off the biggest day of your life.

except maybe the New York Plaza hotel. or on a yacht in the middle of the ocean. or the Tardis... but I mean, the Winterholme was pretty awesome.

anyways! next up, photos from the ceremony + reception. stay tuned!

better together

ladies and gentleman, you heard right. Brando and I are officially an old married couple. one whole year we've been hitched. funny how things change, and other things don't.

we are on a whole other continent, with whole new friends, completely different lives. but I don't really feel that different. I can't believe it's been a whole year. a whole, crazy, messy, whirlwind year.

this one didn't quite get us in focus, haha.
startin' the day off right with some 'bucks!
we had a visit with our neighbourhood kitty pal!

we had a "Canadian" picnic in the sunny park; doughnuts and pepsi. :)

sushi to the max!!!

the weather was nice enough to break out a sundress!

the evening top-off- wine, chips, creme eggs, and Mad Men.

we spent the day doing what we do best; absolutely nothing. oh wait...that sounds not the way I meant it to sound.
what I mean is, we spent our anniversary relaxing and enjoying the abnormally nice weather. and of course, eating delicious food. it was an awesome day. just like that one a year ago. you know, that time we got married.
it's been a rough year in a lot of ways, but I'm pretty lucky to be stuck with this guy. ♥

ps: on our anniversary we got the digitals of our wedding photos, so over the next couple days I'll be sharing some with you! be sure to check back- we had the best photographers ever.

to put it in a nutshell...

hello happy weekenders!
greetings from sunny Aberdeen. yes, you read that right. Aberdeen was sunny. of course I was at work through most of it, but I'm hoping tomorrow will bring equally joyous weather.

in the meantime, here are some photos of day two in Glasgow!

it was pretty cold on day two, so we spent most of the day doing fun indoor things... like visiting the Kelvingrove museum & art gallery. it's in this big, gorgeous building, and there's lots of interesting art and history and informative exhibits. highlights included the original Salvador Dali painting Christ of Saint John of the Cross (which I have decided is one of my favourites) and learning about the ill-fated elephant mascot Sir Roger ("some soldiers and a man with an elephant gun shot Sir Roger while he ate his breakfast").

after the museum we found this great little cafe called Tribeca, which was New York City themed. hubs claims it's just another sign that we should live in nyc. we had a delicious all-day breakfast, and mine included a poppyseed bagel from heaven; they really need to have more bagels like this one around here. there was also scrumptious cherry coconut cake, and a scone that Brandon just cannot stop talking about.

we topped off the day with an early showing of The Hunger Games before riding the "Glasgow eye" and heading to the train station. it was a pretty great day, although not helped much by the ridiculous train air conditioning that nearly froze my socks off (along with various parts of my body).

Glasgow was buckets of fun (yeah I'm making buckets happen). I would definitely recommend a visit if you're voyaging in the UK. at first I didn't really know what we were gonna do there; it wasn't like other cities I had visited where I had heard of all these things I wanted to see or places I wanted to go. but turns out there's a ton to do, a lot of it is free, and it's generally just a really cool city!

there's great shopping, museums, food, events, and getting around is really easy. we only had to take the subway to get to Kelvingrove, and it was simple and cheap. we had a great time, and only scratched the surface of all the things to explore.

and that, my friends, is our little pre-anniversary trip to Glasgow. in a nutshell.
cheers!
