storm in a teacup

so "snowmageddon" was kind of a bust, huh?

I'm not sure how you native New Yorkers felt about blizzard 2015, but I was kind of underwhelmed.
that being said, the snow day was very appreciated, and it's kind of nice to have a little winter wonder around here. if it's gonna be cold, there might as well be snow!

coat + dress- Modcloth // boots- Hunter // hat- Topshop

you're never too old for a little frolic in the snow.

I got a new coat for Christmas from my mom- she always gives me the best coats! unfortunately it was a little too big... but when I exchanged it Modcloth had a huge sale on so I got this coat in two colours! and I love them both. I'm always nervous ordering things with sleeves online (do I just have freakishly disproportionate arms?) but this coat is so comfy and chic and perfect for New York City winters. meaning not blizzard-y or snowpocalyptic.
at all.
come on, guys.

happy snow day!
and now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

cold, cold heart

February, the year 2014, day four.
still cold. too cold to leave home.
yet I venture forth into frozen winter, for naught but vanity.
the natives consider me mad.
(but all the best people are...)

coat- kenzie // dress- gift // cardigan- aeropostale // tights- american apparel // hat- bentley // mittens- borrowed // boots- modcloth

I feel like I am channelling the Mad Hatter a little here, both for my outrageously bright headwear and the craziness of thinking that trudging through ice and snow is a good idea.
I'm pretty sure the snow crust cut my legs, guys.
I really need to dig out some taller boots and- dare I say it?- a couple pairs of jeans if I want to make it through winter photo shoots comfortably and with all of my digits.
I know, I know, I'm such a whiner. at least this hat warms my head and my heart!

maybe I just need to incorporate more coats into my wardrobe. that would make winter outfits so much easier! and variety is the spice of life, after all.

hope you're all keeping warm.

burning down bridges

hey there sports fans!
how about that team and their sports game?

I kid, I kid, I watched the Superbowl. it wasn't the most exciting game of football I've ever seen, but you know. it's an event. I was rooting for the Seahawks, and they won! you're welcome, Frasier.

Brando and I went out of town to visit some friends of ours and watch the game. it was nice to get away for just a night and gorge on pizza and wings and beer. a good ol' fashioned Superbowl night.

plus, they live in Port Blandford, which is a perfect little town for a photo op!

I kept my word and planned a warm wardrobe for outdoors, but of course I ended up not needing it. it was so mild! I didn't need any mittens or a hat, my new puffy jacket was good enough.

Brandon got a similar jacket in blue (which you can check out further down this post!) and I felt like we were a ski lodge couple from the 70s. do puffy bomber jackets remind you of stuff like that? I love those cute little ski bunny outfits with the pink jackets and earmuffs and big white ski boots. it makes me want to take a ski trip, but I know I'd prefer sipping hot chocolate and marshmallows by a fire to falling down a giant snow bank...

coat- american eagle // sweater- ??old // dress(skirt)- suzy shier // boots- aldo

before we move on, I'd like to note two things: one, how awesome my gold nail polish is; and two, how great bridges are for taking pictures.
seriously, could they be more photogenic?
(click below to see Brando's outfit!)

the good ol' hockey game

I may have mentioned this before, but there's not much to do in this bustling town of Gander. we don't exactly get out of the house much, and I rarely change out of pyjama pants and Brandon's flannels. this weekend, though, Brando and I thought it was time to, you know... actually do something. so we got tickets to see the Gander Flyers hockey game.

the game wasn't amazing (Gander lost terribly haha), but we had hot dogs and cold beer and interacted with other human beings... so I guess that's a win.

usually I love hockey, but honestly... I just couldn't wait to get home and eat and ice cream sandwich and watch Dexter.

hey, whatever gets me out of the house, right?! and the little kids who played during the intermission were freakin' adorable.

coat- mod cloth (gift) // hat- borrowed // boots- hunter (gift) // bag- gift

this was my "I'm still kind of a style blogger" pose. it's kinda sad, I know. can't blame a girl for trying! I love my new coat, and it's all I've been photographed in lately.

hopefully soon I'll discover more things to do around Gander, and have more interesting things to share with you... wish me luck.

WISH IT.
anyways, happy weekend to you all!

we'll take a cup of kindness yet

ohmigosh.
only FIVE DAYS till the BIG DAY.
I'm not even sure what to do with myself.

it's been a very busy couple of days, and if I'm being quite honest, a very awful couple of days, too. I mean, sure, this week had it's moments- visiting the best friends ever, seeing the best band ever- but mostly I've been extra-frustrated with a string of bad luck lasting, oh... about two years now.

BUT tis the season to be jolly, not whiny, so let's forget about all that!
...except the part where my camera is now semi-out of commission, you should remember that part. cause it explains why these are pictures from last week. :)

sweater- h&m // pants + bow- american apparel // coat- suzy shier // booties- new look

not the most creative photoshoot in the world, but it's the best I got under the circumstances. and besides, I got a cute bow, guys!
such a cute bow.
I do kinda love this outfit, so it's a shame it couldn't get better representation on this here bloggity-blog. and hey, check out my new coat! $20, you guys. $20. fur collars all up in here. I predict it shall be my Christmas eve coat.

thanks to those who commented on my previous post! I always appreciate a nice comment. and to those of you who read but did not comment...
SHAME ON YOU.

naw, just kidding. you're cool too!
happy Christmas eve eve eve eve eve.

playing: carry me home- hey rosetta!
